Exploring and telling stories. Celebrating colour, pattern, light and the beauty of the small.

One of three delicate yet substantial, glass Rockpool rings currently with Old Harnessmakers Gallery. With seaweed detail trailed around the back.

|
Behind my studio: I don’t know why there are fields of withering sunflowers but there are flocks of small birds all over them (except when I try and take a photo) very happily eating the seeds.

Thanks to everyone who came by our studios today. Working alongside skilled Makers like @botanicalbeing and having the opportunity to demonstrate and discuss as well as show and sell is much appreciated, particularly this year.

Our studios open tomorrow! You will find Botanical Being and myself in our Earl Soham studios at our work. Winter inspiration and beautiful unique and artisan/artist made creations in textiles, print and glass. My studio will only take two people at a time so if you would like to make an appointment to avoid waiting, please get in touch. This is not necessary for Maria’s studio, which consists of a series of larger spaces. My studio is to the left of Yew Tree Court and parallel with the A1120.

Find this glass and much more in Harleston.

You will find a case of my glass at Walsingham Gallery & Framing (re-opening today) in North Norfolk along with work from a wide range of artists and makers. Plus the vibrant and inspiring studio of @sarahcaswellpaintings AND let’s not forget an award-winning pie cafe.

More in the way of glass planetary alignment, I’m going with amber & gold as a contrast to silver & blue. A Planet ring and an earring pair with some bonus orrery goodness from a trip to the Louvre a while back. I shall have some of these available for our Open Studios this coming Saturday (December 5th) alongside @botanicalbeing

I have been generating planets - does anyone else love an orrery? The photos are of the beauty they have at the @britishmuseum from my visit in January this year. Earring pairs and a pendant.

|
‘Stormy Weather’: a seam of sunset floods the darkening horizon like kintsugi - my Cloud rings will be among the recent work available at my Open Studio next Saturday, (5th December) I’m sharing the event with Botanical Being whose beautiful studio is a four minute drive away in the same Suffolk village Earl Soham.

A blanket of mist over everything today - but emphasising all the most subtle of autumn shapes and colours.

One of my favourite designs of 2020 has been my Cloud ring. I’m channeling some of the qualities I’ve always found compelling in the nature-inspired work of René Lalique: diffused light, flowing lines and the quality of being lit from within. Walking the Suffolk fields during lockdown - in all weathers has given me a lot of sky to study. Photos taken in natural light,

Packing up a treasure chest of clouds and alchemy in glass for a special customer. A glowing handful of rings to try-on at home.

I call these Alchemical rings because the silver shifts to such a golden colour on this glass in the flame. They also bloom incredibly differently according to the light and angle when worn.

Find a world of ripples and reflections in each of the singular glass buttons among my work at Old Harnessmakers from 3rd December.

We will be responsibly opening our doors for a single day if all being well!

Glass buttons in current autumn-sunset colours, one of the more functional items I create... I shall have work in the Aldeburgh Gallery for their winter show from 10th December 2020 and my button stores are low.

I love making these, the rhythm and flow of the process really kicks in here. Wearing one is pretty good too. These three are for the winter show at Old Harnessmakers in Harleston.

Misplaced my snippers, have yet to find out what the millefiori on the cross-section come up as!
