Exploring and telling stories. Celebrating colour, pattern, light and the beauty of the small.

I’ve been making goldstone stringer and twisted cane. It is a glass (not a gemstone as sometimes assumed) with copper inclusions and comes to me in ribbons or rocks (above and left) and either way needs to be encased in molten, clear glass in order to preserve and amplify its coppery sparkle.

First 'go' at making a beetle onto a pin with molten glass.

A little late on here but Queen Bee totem benefited from these new, taller stands and had a re-working that leaves me very pleased. It's safe to say this is her final form.

I don't need to tidy my workbench if I continue woking in a similar colourway. I have been thinking about beetles for some time now. An early evolutionary stage of a beetle ring.

To everyone who followed, liked, commented on, comissioned and bought from my online exhibition. It was not the most organised event as I did it on impulse, but it's been a pleasure and I've learned a little more about the video and timelapse functions on my phone. Work I did not sell is making its way to Walsingham Gallery and Frame to fill in some gaps.

Someone wanted a Field God totem but had read the bird skull as a cloud, and requested a substitution, which I find I like.

‘You can cut all the flowers but you can’t stop Spring from coming’ Pablo Neruda. It's really a tiny bird skull drawn in molten glass, crowned with a wreath of spring foliage. 'Take a photo and try to make him look dignified?' I asked my eldest, as it prompted much hilarity. Also some people have looked at these and seen clouds or windswept heads. Perception trumping intent, I will have a go at both of those as they are very much in the spirit.

Wellspring totem and Orb, Landscape and Pool jewellery. Now packing those elements that didn't sell during last week to send to WalsinghamGallery and Frame.

A further collection of ‘Source’ glass: Field God totem and vessel, Speckled Egg earrings, Landscape rings, Pool necklace and earrings: inspired by being immersed in rural spring in Suffolk. All glass elements sculpted entirely in the flame. Work that hasn’t sold during this week will be going onwards to Norfolk to the lovely Walsingham Gallery & Framing in Norfolk next week.

I was going to say in order to see the wood from the trees - but actually its more like the trees from the wood. Spending large amounts of time crafting tiny objects presents creates a challenge in terms of visibility.

Lords and Ladies and (perhaps) a Hedge Sparrow egg? Walks along the local field hedgerows.

Framlingham Castle looking like a crown from the mere in the evening light.

An earring day, made entirely in the flame and directly onto the pin. No coldwork or glue involved!

Day 4: Pool ring - and stud earrings made entirely in the flame, directly onto their pins. This week I would have been exhibiting at The Quay Gallery - instead I am posting new work every day for seven days. This work has been done since lockdown and is called ‘Source’, based on my walks through local fields and a recently discovered body of water hidden behind my studio. All items are for sale and during this week I will take orders for rings in the styles shown in different sizes. DM me for prices and orders.
