I'm enjoying reading 'The Uses of Enchantment' by Bruno Bettelheim, a phsycologist who published this influential analysis of fairytales in 1976. I have just finished reading the wonderful myth-punk novel  'The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making' alongside my youngest. Fairytales, folktales, Biblical tales and the myths and legends of many lands were the building blocks of our reading as children, often unabridged. I like fractured fairytales much better than sanitised ones.
